LIVE LIKE A LOCAL

EXPLORE THE AREA!

We live in Live Oak which is actually a suburb of San Antonio; in fact our home is only 15 miles from The Alamo and River Walk.  San Antonio has many attractions you may want to vist while here, along with the beautiful botanical feel of this city.  Check out just a few of the attractions below.  You will also find we have many wonderful restaurants and eateries within just a 4 mile radius of our home - The Forum being one area which has a variety of both food and shopping places we are sure you will enjoy.

EXPLORE THE CITY

The Alamo

Visit historic downtown San Antonio and see The Alamo during your stay.  Allow at least an hour if not three to browse through the museum and the beautiful grounds surrounding it.

The River Walk

I'm sure you will enjoy a stroll at night along the river with its beautiful flora, fauna, and lights. Take in a restaurant here and enjoy some of the live music you may come across.  This is only one block from The Alamo!

Japanese Tea Garden

This beautiful attraction is free. Enjoy walking beautiful pathways and reading about the history of these gardens from the family who created them, through World War II, up to the present.  You will also enjoy eating in the tea room here.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Just 7 miles north of our home are the Natural Bridge Caverns (right next to the Wildlife Ranch). Relax with a walk through the caverns and shops. For the adventurous, definitely take an exhilarating ride on the zip lines or take on the Canopy Challenge, 60 feet up in the air!

The McNay Museum

For museum buffs, we have the McNay with an impressive display of various art pieces as well as their well stocked art reference library.  Sculptures, paintings, inventions, flower gardens, and more.  Thursday evenings are free to all.

Fort Sam Houston

Are you one who recognizes and honors our military?  If so, then a visit to Fort Sam Houston is in store.  Our men and women in uniform deserve recognition.  Here you will find our military, our flag and our country honored and remembered.  We also have the Randolph Airforce Base Medical Museum close by.

RESTAURANTS & EATERIES

The Forum is just 3 miles from our home and has the whole gamut of foods - from fast food to fine restaurants.  Just click on the Forum banner above to find an alphabetical list of the establishments, or scroll to the bottom of the list for a listing by category.

Just a few of our favorite places outside The Forum and closer to home - just around the corner - are:

Taco Cabana and Taco Bell

Subway

Starbucks

Papa John's Pizza
